The Brass Tacks: Hardware as Healing Frequency, from Spaces Within in Sweden
I recently came across the jewelry-like hardware of Spaces Within, a Stockholm-based brand founded by designers Nadja Bari and Karin Wallenbeck. Spaces Within designs “sculptural cabinet hardware with sensual forms, textural finishes, and unique proportions,” the duo explains, all made from solid brass in a second-generation foundry in Florence, Italy. If, as they describe, beauty is a healing frequency, then the micro-pleasure of opening a drawer or cabinet with the undulating form of a hand-sculpted brass handle feels as practical as it is luxurious. Here is a look at their collection.
Above: The Burly pull in dark brass features concave detailing on the inside; 1,000 SEK each.
Above: The Burly pull can be placed both vertically, as seen here in the upper cabinets, and horizontally, as seen here in the lower drawers.
Above: The Burly in polished nickel, a finish with a warm tone and smooth, mirrored finish; 1,100 SEK each.
Above: The Blunt, shown here in polished brass, is a balanced oval shape knob. The polished brass has a smooth, mirrored finish that will patina over time; 950 SEK each.

Above: The Limber handle in amber brass has a curved profile, but from the front is a perfectly straight line. The finish is a warm amber tone brass; 1,100 each.
Above: The Limber handle in dark brass as seen in a kitchen; 1,100 each.
Above: The Suave in dark brass is a large handle with a curve that is slightly off center. Designed for large drawers and cabinets, closet doors, as well as built-in dishwasher and refrigerator/freezers; 2000 SEK each.
Above: The Doyen in amber brass is a larger handle designed as a statement piece on tall cabinet doors, wardrobe doors, and built-in refrigerators/freezers; 2,900 each.
Above: The Prim handle in amber brass enhances wardrobe doors and antique furniture; 1,400 each.
Above: The Tender knob in amber brass has a circular profile that works well in repetition as in a kitchen; 1,200 each.

Above: Coming from the fashion world and product design world, respectively, designers Nadja Bari and Karin Wallenbeck founded Spaces Within to “explore themes of refinement, elegance, and poetic expressions,” they explain.
