Shopper’s Diary: 11 Favorites from the New Antiquecore Standard-Bearer GreenRow
GreenRow, the Williams-Sonoma group’s newest brand, fully embraces the bespectacled, granny chic approach to home design. And it does it exceptionally well. Bring on the patinated brass candleholders, the curlicued rattan side tables, and the lampshades that could double as pleated skirts.
Admirably, GreenRow is on a mission to offer sustainably made goods: the collection covers the whole house—make that cottage—all of it produced from responsibly sourced natural materials. Here are 11 favorites.
Above: GreenRow’s green Ella Wood Dining Chairs, $399, and gray Windsor Wood Dining Chairs, $399, are both made of turned solid wood and are UL Greenguard certified (meaning they’re made of materials healthy for indoor use).
Above: Woven in the Philippines, the Calista Rattan Side Table, $479, is part of the brand’s initiative to preserve traditional handcraft. The Indian Botanical Inlay Table Lamp is patterned with bone castoffs; $279, and has a Printed Pleated Lampshade and Slipcover; $115.
Above: Tulip Bud Vases, $19 each, are mouth-blown in India from 60 percent recycled soda lime glass.
Above: GreenRow’s Extending Taper Candle Holder, $59, is made in India of 100 percent-recycled aluminum in a brass (shown) or antiqued silver finish.
Above: The Tilia Tablecloth of OEKO-TEX-certified linen/cotton is $249. Also available: a Tilia Runner, $59, and Tilia Napkins, $69 for a set of four.
Above: GreenRow’s Limited-Edition Ton 18 Side Chair, $699, is made by Czech Republic furniture manufacturer Ton, which Michael Thonet opened in 1861. A Limited Edition Ton 18 Counter Stool is also available. The chairs come in Merlot (shown) and Jade—for more inspiration, see The Unexpected Red Chair Theory.
Above: GreenRow’s Heavy Linen Shams come in three sizes, starting at $69. They’re made in Portugal of OEKO TEX-certified 100-percent linen. Pillow Inserts available separately.
Above: Handwoven in India of hand-spun jute, Elara Jute Whipstitch Rugs have a dyed warp and undyed weft finished with whipstitched edging. They come in four colors and six sizes, starting at $249.
Above: You might assume the wheeled Pixie Market Cart, $299, is woven plastic, but in fact it’s entirely rattan handwoven in Indonesia.
GreenRow is primarily an online business, but the brand recently opened its flagship first store at 47 Howard Street in downtown NYC.
