“From Broken to Made Again”: Renaissance Glassware from La Soufflerie
“From dark to light, from death to life. From broken to made again”: This is how French glassware co. La Soufflerie describes their new Renaissance recycled glass collection, and all of us are taking note. Here are seven pieces we like:
Above: The Alien en Carafe (top, $49) “has the same wonderfully organic and unusual design spirit” as the Alien à Pied cups (lower left, $35). Like everything in the collection, both are made from 100 percent recycled glass.
Above: The elegant Eau hand-blown carafe is “sustainable art in a usable form”; $56.
Above: Espresso cups, two ways: the Expresso Soucoupe (right, $27) has a glass “saucer” attached to the base; the more minimal Expresso (left, $21) does not.
Above: The subtly flared, oversized Glass Vase XXL ($56) is shaped by hand (and would make an excellent utensil holder, among other things).
Above: Another multi-use vessel, the Mulino Due ($56) takes cues from amphoras with its two handles.
